Men’s Lacrosse has been played in the Netherlands since the year 2000 and in the past decade is has grown explosively. It took some time before the sport really lifted off, but since the start of the competition in 2006 there have been new teams joining the Dutch National Lacrosse League every year. In the 2009 season, the amount of teams got too large to keep playing in one division, so the league was split up into two divisions. In 2010, even more teams joined in, and a third division was added.
In 2007, the first competition for women’s lacrosse teams started. Since that year, the women’s national league has been growing rapidly and in 2010 the league consists of 9 teams.

Women’s division 1 is pas in 2008 van start gegaan.
De eerste play offs ooit gespeeld in de WDNLL waren in Tilburg in 2008, vorig jaar vonden de 2e play offs van de WDNLL plaats in Rotterdam.
Er staat in Groningen een beker van de vrouwen van 2007. Er werd dus in 2007 al competitie gespeeld blijkbaar.
Ook in 2007 zijn playoffs gespeeld in Rotterdam bij HCR.
Dat klopt, maar de vrouwen wedstrijd die toen gespeeld is was een mix van Groningen, Amsterdam en Utrecht speelsters om aan genoeg spelers te komen, niet echt conventionele play offs dus en er was zeker nog geen officiële league vanuit de NLB gecoördineerd. Maar goed, zo belangrijk is dit nu ook weer niet.
